The Fight is Over

We are almost 2 weeks into protesting so that all people will be treated fairly, however, we are in the middle of the largest pandemic of the last 100 years. Most would say it’s the time to fight hardest. This overlooks the humanity that we are fighting for. If we don’t start to see that we are all on the same team fighting for a better future for all of us, our infighting has only reduced us.

As we gear up to vote across the US, we find that voter suppression is occurring all across the United States. As a model for how things should be run, we’ve long been an example of how to lead. It’s hard to see the amount of infighting we’ve had. It’s time to stop, and realize that we are all fighting against ourselves. One response to “The Fight is Over”

  1. When Lee was 3 years old we drove to visit Dr. Ben in Goldsboro, NC. Dr. Ben who delivered him into this world had recently been diagnosed with cancer and his head was newly shaved. At a stoplight, Lee saw a man crossing the street, and proclaimed: “Hey, there’s Dr. Ben crossing the street right in front of us!” The man looked exactly like Dr. Ben in stature, physique, and size – only ONE THING clued me in that it wasn’t Lee’s beloved doctor. You see, Dr. Ben was white and this gentleman was extremely black. Lee hadn’t LEARNED to differentiate skin tones yet! As it says in this song from South Pacific, “You’ve got to be carefully taught.”
